GPI's Perfect Match: Barbara S. Stewart - Andy & Beth

Stand Alone/Series Title: Rock n Roll Never Forgets

Author: Barbara S Stewart

Characters: Andy & Beth

Welcome back to Glass Paper Ink’s PERFECT MATCH, we know we’re usually matching couples up here at GPI but we’ve decided to do things a little differently for Valentine’s Day, one of our lucky finalists will walk away with a grand prize of a ROMANTIC GETAWAY TO A DESTINATION OF THEIR CHOOSING TO THE VALUE OF $50,000.

Please welcome our next guests...Beth & Andy

Do you believe in love at first sight?

Andy turns to look at Beth and breaks into song. “Just one look, and I fell so hard, hard, hard...in love with you, oh-oh, oh-oh...' I mean look at her,” he continues, and his smile illuminates the room.

Beth is a little shy, but explains. “When he first walked in the room the night I met him, I was tripping over myself all goo-goo eyed and star struck because I was meeting “the” Andy Stevens. Who I actually met was just Andy, and I was smitten immediately.

How do you know Andy was "the one"?
“I didn't at first.” Andy turns to her in mock shock. She lays a hand on his cheek and smiles. “I didn't because I didn't think for a quick minute that I was his type. I'm just a girl. But he kept coming around and it was sincere. That’s when I knew.”

How do you know Beth was "the one"?
“After we shared conversation the first night, I just knew. She didn't fall all over herself trying to impress me - THAT impressed me. We spent hours talking about everything, and nothing. She's smart, funny, and a hot redhead.” His arm is around her, and his hand lightly caresses her back. She shifts a little to be closer to him.

Tell me about your first Valentine's Day together?
“I defer to Andy to respond to this one.” She giggles.
“We, Traveler,” he notes. “We were on the road - a lot - and we'd just been nominated for our first GRAMMY award. It was exciting times. I wasn't home for Valentine’s Day, and as I recall, I didn't call or anything.
“Your recall is correct,” Beth replies. He squeezes her a little tighter.
“She wasn't pissed, but she was hurt because I forget. I didn't. I’d decided to let her squirm - just a little. It’s just a day, and I can profess my love to her any day of the week, but I thought about her being all dressed up for the festivities - a goddess in my dreams. The award ceremonies were in Los Angeles the next weekend. Beth was coming with me. As we were getting ready that night, she looked like a million bucks. I sidled up to tell her so, and slipped a diamond necklace around her neck.”
“That made up for Valentine's Day,” Beth says with a grin.
“And then after the show...” Andy waggles his eyebrows at her and she swats him for embarrassing her.

What are your plans for this Valentine's Day?? Come on you can tell me, I'll keep it a secret.
They both laugh.
“Like I said, it’s just a day. We don’t have a real plan; we’ll be home,” he says.
“Home this year will be a week in Eleuthera. Andy has a cottage on the island. It’s our paradise and just being away from the chaos is the best plan I can think of,” Beth replies.

Beth what would be the ultimate Valentine’s Day present Andy could give to you? What would you rather, a big flashy gift with a night out on the town or a quiet night at home.
Andy answers first.
“Beth is a simple woman; the most selfless, down to earth woman I’ve ever met. She’d be happy with anything, but want nothing. I like to give her jewelry, but she fusses, “You shouldn’t have.” But I know she enjoys wearing it.
“Home,” Beth says – one word and her face glows. “I like when we are home. It’s just the two of us and we can be Andy and Beth, not the Rock God and his Bethy.” She’s referring to the tabloids. “The nights out are kind of crazy. He’s so out there. So recognizable,” she explains.

So tell me what's the most romantic thing you've ever done for Andy?
She thinks a minute, and Andy watches.
“His birthdays. I make him home made cakes and meals. We don’t go out.”
“And the Hawaiian shirt,” he adds.
“I made him a shirt the first Christmas we shared, to remind him of our first trip to the island.”
“The gifts from her hands and heart are always the best, and because I know the time and thought she puts into them... that’s love.”

Ok how well do you know your partner time, GPI's Fast Five:
Top or Bottom?
Andy: Bottom
Beth: Top
Andy: Definitely! Again she swats him.

Sexiest feature?
Andy: Eyes
Beth: His hair!

Biggest turn off?
Andy: Nothing
Beth: She’s thinking and Andy turns to look-curiously. She laughs. “I hate when he farts and fans the covers!”
They both roar with laughter.

Three words to describe Andy?
“He’s my everything.”

Three words to describe Beth?
“Angel in disguise”

First thing you thought when you saw Andy for the first time?
“Oh. My. God. It’s. Him!” she laughs.

First thing you thought when you saw Beth for the first time?
“I’ve never wanted a redhead before. I want her.”

If you were to win GPI's Perfect Match, what destination would you pick for your holiday?
“We are blessed with our own paradise by having the cottage in Eleuthera, but if we could go anywhere... Paris. I would love to see the Eifel Tower,” Beth says, dreamy eyed.

Chasing Spring by RS Grey - Review

Blurb:

I thought I’d left Blackwater, Texas behind for good. I didn’t belong in the small town, but my dad wouldn’t listen. He dragged me back home in his beat-up truck and dropped a bomb along the way: Chase Matthews was moving in with us. He was the golden boy of my high school, my former best friend, and the last person I wanted sleeping across the hall. His presence was too great a reminder of the ghosts I was trying to forget.

I didn’t ask for a hero. I don’t want to be saved.

To me, Lilah Calloway meant late nights sneakin’ out, moonlit hair, and sparklers in July. She was my best friend until the day she left and I’d assumed Blackwater had seen the last of her. Then, like a tempest, she rolled back into town for the final half of senior year. The chopped hair and dark devil-may-care attitude warned most people away, but I knew if I fought hard enough, I could find the lost girl.

I didn’t want to be her hero. Some girls don’t need to be saved.

Kristine's Review:
Reviewed: January 2016.

Where do I even start with Chasing Spring, I had grown accustomed to Grey's quirky yet heartfelt romances, and I was expecting more of the same, I was expecting light and sexy, while still packing an emotional connection that I often find in her work, and instead I found so much more. Lilah left her old life in Blackwater Texas, sure that she would finally be free of the guilt, pain and sorrow she felt there, but when he father advises her that she has to return home to finish her final year of high school, the new carefully constructed life Lilah had created for herself looked to be slipping away, not only was she back home and struggling to hold on while the inner turmoil she felt was threatening to pull her under, but her once best friend, Chase Matthews was now living in her family home, with only hallway separating them, Chase had always been the golden boy, and Lilah was determined to steer clear of his light, instead preferring her own darkness.

Everything about Chasing Spring stole my heart, breathtaking in it's entirety, Grey's words eloquent and inspired, I left my preconceived expectations at the first page, and took the journey that Lilah and Chase begged me to take with them, Chasing Spring is a poignant, often times heartbreaking coming of age story, that showcases how resilient the human spirit is, with moments of sheer brilliance where Lilah can see past her mother's sordid past, past the lies and deceit, past the guilt and fear, to the golden boy that she's always loved, to the man that's standing before her now, begging her to give him a chance, to give them a chance, to cut the ties that bind her to a future that can only be filled with heartache and misery, as it threatens to shackle her to a past that is not her own. These characters may be young, but they have both faced more than most of us will in a life time, with a wisdom that surpasses their years, Chasing Spring's raw emotion, it's ability to sucker punch you right in the feels, to break your heart, and simultaneously piece it back together for me came from Grey's ability to show that dichotomy of not only Chase and Lilah and the way they face their collective pasts, but the warring sides of Lilah's mind as she seeks to protect herself, with almost a devil may care attitude, while also holding Chase above all else, her need to ensure his heart is protected is tantamount to a sacred oath she made with herself.

"I thought you said you wanted to give me a happy ending?"

"Maybe instead I have to satisfied with a happy middle."

Grey shows her depth here, while I have LOVED every book of hers, the fun, the quirky, the sexy, the emotional, nothing has gripped me the way Chasing Spring did, the way Chasing Spring has, because it's been days since I finished, and I find myself idly reading quotes, smiling wistfully as I remember moments, that so perfectly detailed the joy and heartbreak of first loves, of love in general, Grey has publicly spoken about the two years that she's been working on Chasing Spring, the fear that she had of ever publishing it, and I have to say, Ms Grey, your fears may have pushed your limits, but Chasing Spring will stay in my mind for a very long time to come.

"Think about it. Does the ending even matter? Shouldn't the middle be the happy part? It's the biggest chunk of our life..."

About RS Grey:

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.

GPI's Perfect Match: Staci Hart - Cooper & Maggie

Stand Alone/Series Title: Chaser - Bad Habits series

Author: Staci Hart

Characters: Cooper & Maggie

Welcome back to Glass Paper Ink’s PERFECT MATCH, we know we’re usually matching couples up here at GPI but we’ve decided to do things a little differently for Valentine’s Day, one of our lucky finalists will walk away with a grand prize of a ROMANTIC GETAWAY TO A DESTINATION OF THEIR CHOOSING TO THE VALUE OF $50,000.

Please welcome our second guests…. Cooper & Maggie

Do you believe in love at first sight?
Maggie: Well, if you’d asked me a couple of years ago, I’d have said no. After being with my ex since high school, I figured love was just something that grew between two people over time, but Cooper changed all that. I think that sometimes you meet somebody who you connect with on a level so deep that it’s undeniable, and I do believe you can feel that connection early on.

How did you know that Maggie was "the one”?
Cooper: I knew from the beginning, from the first night, the night that should have been her wedding night with her ex. We were dancing, and there was just this moment when I looked at her and knew that I’d do anything for her, do anything to protect her from being hurt again. It just took a lot of convincing to get her to believe me. (smirks at her)
Maggie (laughs): But I came around. Not like you would have let me walk away.
Cooper (still smirking): No, probably not.

What are your plans for this Valentines Day?? Come on you can tell me...*winks* I'll keep it a secret
Cooper: This is our first, and we’re spending it in Rio. I have a house there that Maggie hasn’t seen yet.
Maggie: (gapes)
Cooper: Surprise!

What would be the ultimate Valentines Day present Maggie could give to you?
Cooper: She’s already given it to me. Just herself. I have everything I could possibly want, if I have that.

What would you rather, a big flashy gift with a night out on the town or a quiet night at home?
Maggie: At home, in pajamas, watching Supernatural. We’re in season four, and I can’t stop watching.
Cooper: It’s true. She’s hooked.

So tell me what's the most romantic thing you've ever done for Maggie?
Cooper (smirks): I dunno, you’d have to ask her.
Maggie: Hmm. You know, he’s romantic all the time, even in the little every day moments. Always thinking of me in small ways, like making my coffee or dinner, or making sure my bag is where I can find it because he knows I’ll forget where I put it half the time. But he’s the king of grand gestures too. One night, he set up an entire candlelight dinner on his sailboat, complete with a chef, a waiter, and a cello player.

Ok how well do you know your partner time, GPI's Fast Five:
Top or Bottom? Maggie: Bottom, easy.
Sexiest feature on Maggie? Cooper: Her curly hair. My hands want to live there indefinitely.
Biggest turn off that Cooper does? Maggie (thinks): Honestly, I’ve got nothing. He’s even sexy when he’s being annoying. Cooper: (laughs)
Three words to describe Maggie? Cooper: Kind, honest, mine.
First thing you thought when you saw Cooper for the first time? Maggie: Oh, my God, who is my brother’s hot best friend? I bet he thinks my braces are lame. I wonder if my brother would actually murder him if we kissed?

If you were to win GPI's Perfect Match, what destination would you pick for your holiday?
Maggie (beams): Greece. After our last trip there, I need to go back. I think I left my heart there.
Cooper: Nope. I’ve got it.
Kristine: *Lays hand across chest* oh wow...did someone just turn up the swoon factor in the studio.

GPI's Perfect Match: Lori L Otto - Jack & Emi

Stand Alone/Series Title: Emi - Lost & Found series

Author: Lori L. Otto

Characters: Jack & Emi

Welcome back to Glass Paper Ink’s PERFECT MATCH, we know we’re usually matching couples up here at GPI but we’ve decided to do things a little differently for Valentine’s Day, one of our lucky finalists will walk away with a grand prize of a ROMANTIC GETAWAY TO A DESTINATION OF THEIR CHOOSING TO THE VALUE OF $50,000.

Please welcome our first guests….Jack & Emi

JACK

Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yes.

How did you know that Emi was "the one"?
She seemed to be my complete opposite, and just talking to her seemed to open a window into a world that I couldn't wait to explore. And when we kissed that first time... it consumed me. I was done for.

Tell me about your first Valentines Day together.
We were both sick, so we spent it in bed with a box full of tissues between us.

What are your plans for this Valentines Day?? (Come on you can tell me... *wink* I'll keep it a secret.)
It's Edie’s first Valentine's Day, and we're actually spending it with her. I did arrange for dinner to be brought in from Emi's favorite restaurant, though. She doesn't know.

What would be the ultimate Valentines Day present Emi could give to you?
I'd love for her to go diving with me somewhere. I think she would love it, if she'd get past her fear.

What would you rather, a big flashy gift with a night out on the town or a quiet night at home with Emi?
Quiet night at home.

So tell me what's the most romantic thing you've ever done for Emi?
She let me pick the venue for our wedding, and it was kind of a big deal: an art gallery that was a tribute to a friend of hers. It was also a wedding gift to her.

Ok how well do you know your partner time, GPI's Fast Five:

Top or Bottom?  Bottom
Sexiest feature on Emi? Favourite? Eyes. Sexiest. Lips.
Biggest turn off that Emi does? Worries about things during sex.
Three words to describe Emi? Creative. Distinctive. Nurturing.
First thing you thought when you saw Emi for the first time?
I was done searching, and I never even really started. (It was an inaccurate statement, since years went by before we saw each other again, but I knew she was it for me.)

If you were to win GPI's Perfect Match, what destination would you pick for your holiday?
Great Barrier Reef

EMI

Do you believe in love at first sight?
I think so.

How do you know that Jack was "the one"?
He stuck with me through the most difficult time in my life... and also, he's the best kisser–ever.

Tell me about your first Valentines Day together?
I'd caught his cold, so he insisted on me spending the day at his house and letting him take care of me. He said he'd made soup from scratch, but his sister told me later that she'd brought it from a restaurant because he forgot to add the spices. In his defense, he wasn't over the cold, either.

What are your plans for this Valentines Day?? (Come on you can tell me... *wink*  I'll keep it a secret)
He thinks we're baby sitting, but we’re not… I’m surprising him with a trip to Australia. He's always wanted to dive the Great Barrier Reef, and I'm going to drown myself in fruity drinks so I won't worry while he swims with sharks or whatever else he wants to swim with.

What would be the ultimate Valentines Day present Jack could give to you?
It sounds silly, but he's literally given me everything a woman could ever want. If I have to say something, maybe more time on this planet with him and our kids and all the people we've ever loved.

What would you rather, a big flashy gift with a night out on the town or a quiet night at home with Jack?
A quiet night out on the town, no gifts needed. How's that? We like the Ritz in Battery Park for sentimental reasons, so I'd never turn down an opportunity to stay there.

So tell me what's the most romantic thing you've ever done for Jack?
I tricked Jack into meeting me at this abandoned warehouse, where I'd hired a big band and a guy who sounded exactly like Sinatra, who happens to be the only musician Jack has a real preference for. I had hung up these pretty lanterns and we danced for hours... and he smiled all night.

Ok how well do you know your partner time, GPI's Fast Five:

Top or Bottom? Top
Sexiest feature on Jack? Eyes
Biggest turn off that Jack does? Gets rational
Three words to describe Jack? Generous, loving, and responsible.
First thing you thought when you saw Jack for the first time? Maybe this cute guy can get me more beer... horrible, I know!!

If you were to win GPI's Perfect Match, what destination would you pick for your holiday?
Indonesia. It's #2 on Jack's list behind Australia and he's never steered me wrong.
