As a blogger and reviewer I've always found it easiest to sit down in front of my laptop as soon as I've finished a book, put pen to paper so to speak, and allow every feeling and emotion pour out as I pound the keys, hoping for something that will make sense of the thoughts swirling around my head. As I sat down at my trusty keyboard I expected the same ease that I usually find after finishing one of Bromberg's books, sure I may stumble over my words as I try to contain my emotions, but as I get the essence of my emotional reaction on screen I can weave together my words into something that should make sense. This time however I started typing...tap tap tap... then I hit delete...delete ...delete... this went on and on, until I pushed aside my laptop and settled back down with Grady and Dylan one more time.

Grady Malone knows all to well that bad things can happen at work, he's been there, done that, and got the physical and psychological scars to prove it. Working as a Fire Fighter sure sounds glamourous and heroic, but there's a side that only those who PROTECT and SERVE will truly every understand. With a family built on that very legacy, the Malone boys all truly know that each work day could be their last.

There’s definitely something beneath the sexiness of Grady Malone. Question is, do I want to get invested enough to find out what?

Dylan McCoy thought she had things mostly figured out, a career she's exceptional at, a boyfriend she loves, a life so far removed from the tension of her childhood, she knows with certainty that her partner will come home from work each day safe and unscathed, what she didn't expect though, was the heartache of finding him in bed with another woman.

Stop staring at me like I’m going to f*cking break. I’ve already broken, Dylan.

The dichotomy of these two characters couldn't have been more obvious, one who wants a family to call her own versus one who refuses to make a real emotional connection, but what truly stood out for me was how similar these two were, both strongly grounded in a sense of family, both who despite their need to guard their hearts love easily and unreservedly, two people whose souls sought each other out, seeing the fear and hurt behind the fast smiles and snappy comebacks and knew instinctively that this could be real.

In Combust as the name would suggest there's scorching heat, electric chemistry and everything you would expect from Bromberg, but as always what I truly love about this author is her ability to convey emotion so freely and openly. It's her inherent desire to give her readers an experience rather then just an experience. It's willingly checking your heart at the door as you step into her world despite not knowing how or what condition it will be returned to you in. It's sitting here, after scrapping seven versions of this review, and still not being sure how to adequately and articulately describe the range of emotions you're still feeling over two fictional characters. It's knowing that your life is richer from reading Bromberg's words.

I am adrift in a sea of emotion, I feel as though I'm struggling to find words to do this story justice despite how many rereads of passages and quiet moments of contemplation I've had since picking up Cuffed for the first time. In true Bromberg style, this story tested me, there were moments where I teetered over the edge of a snicker right into a loud boisterous guffaw, and in the next moment I sat stunned with tears streaming down my cheeks, heart breaking. I went into Cuffed absolutely blind, with that hot cover I expected light and sexy, but the thing about Bromberg's books is that while they may be laugh out loud funny at times, and absolutely bursting at the seems with sizzingly sexy escapades there is *always* so much damn heart and soul that her words change you, they implode and set your world on fire, in a dazzling technicolour display that simultaneously shatters your heart and gently pieces it back together. 

"She’s sunshine with a little bit of hurricane thrown in, and I’m willingly walking straight into her storm with nothing more than the clothes on my back."

With rich characterisation and a story that had the ability to absolutely decimate me one moment and leave me joyous the next I found myself putting Cuffed down several times to revel in the sheer unrelenting beauty of Bromberg's words and shroud myself in her raw and jagged imagery. Bromberg has never shied away from tackling heavy or sensitive topics, in fact it was her ability to do so with sensitivity and grace that cemented me a long time fan of her work, but even with that I was unprepared for the effect this story would have on me, how much this book would make me feel.

"We forget the memories and just chase the moments."

Years ago I would of read Cuffed and handled the heavy subject matter in the abstract, because while I knew of it happening, my world was untouched. Now, well now however I know differently, and my heart shattered over and over again reading this story, because it hit too close to home, and like Grant I know with certainty that I can't save everyone, I can't take away someone's hurts, nor can I erase their memories. Therein lie the beauty of Cuffed, in the subtle message of Bromberg's words, words that shake even the strongest resolves and leave you knowing with absolute certainty that the greatest gift we can give someone is support, that they are already the hero of their story and don't need saving, that sometimes love is found in the darkest of places. It only thrives once it hits the light.

"This hurt doesn't take away my pain, only being strong will. I am in control of me. I will survive despite it. I am loved regardless of it."

So here's the thing, I'm a sucker for certain tropes, childhood best friends, brothers best friend, enemies to lovers, and male escorts... it's with an almost giddy sense of anticipation that I find myself diving into these stories, add to that, the author has easily become an automatic 1click for me and you may be able to guess reaction to the idea alone of Mister Romance, I mean Leisa Rayven is the woman who created Ethan Holt and Cassie Taylor... and for those who have been following GPI for a while now, you'll no doubt remember my reaction the Starcrossed series, in truth, I still have that same reaction, it's part awed by the story and part far too emotionally invested in fictional characters to be classified as sane.

Now that you know my trope loves, let me add that the idea of opposite's attracting is another one of the things that makes me giddy, so combining Eden Tate, perhaps the worlds most cynical and anti love young woman, with Max, Mr Romance himself, who's goal is to create the most romantic of situations for his clients and you're almost guaranteed to make me just about beg for more.

Eden, is young, smart and sassy, she's knows all about failed relationships, and partners that split when things get hard. She's seen first hand the devastation a broken relationship can have on a person, let alone on a family. Despite those around her seemingly charmed by the notions of forever loves and happily ever afters, Eden is determined not to end up distraught after believing in something that isn't real, instead she's focusing on fixing her stalling career and finally busting out of the click bait nonsense articles her boss is forcing her to write. Eden is determined to become the savvy investigative journalist she's always dreamt of, when she stumbles on Mister Romance - a $5000 a date escort who is servicing the social elite and making romantic dreams come true, she might just have found the key to her professional success.

I've been finding myself more and more drawn to the not quite slow burn books of late, where I once craved lots of sex and fast gratification in my books, I now find myself gravitating to that deliciously sexy chemistry that you only find in stories where the build is just as important if not more than the climax. I want that edge of my seat feeling, you know the one...where you're desperate to read more, to live and breathe the story, where you're so enamoured by the characters that you want to be them, know them, everything about the story draws you in and demands you pay attention, you're hungry for that first touch, first kiss, first everything... gahhhhh...it's that heady feeling of need and desire and love and lust that tickles your senses that I crave, and within the first chapter I was feeling those initial stirrings pulsing through my blood, in a matter of pages I was so utterly invested that I was buzzing and on edge ready for everything Rayven was bound to throw at me. The more I read, the more intense my reaction, before I knew it I was desperate, the authors ability to convey emotion and elicit a response from the reader overwhelming.

"Their partners give them sex, but what they truly crave is for someone to see them. Value them. Love them. That's what Maxwell does."

The beauty of this story lies in not only Rayven's exquisite prose, but her snappy dialogue and sharp characterisation. Eden and Max leapt from the page, I craved their interactions as much they did, feeling rather than simply reading their conversations. Everything about Mister Romance flowed effortlessly from the page, creating a story that felt more film than book, making it utterly addictive leaving me entirely unable to put it down.

Holy Moly... I do not know what I expected from Bromberg's latest release, but whatever it was the final product well and truly exceeded my expectations. From the outset The Player was intriguing, everything about Easton and Scout invited you to want more, from their resilience and strength individually, the their explosive chemistry together.

"There's something about Easton that makes me want when I shouldn't, need when I needn't, and desire when I know it'll be disastrous."

On the road to recovery after a shoulder injury the last person Easton wants to deal with is a pretty young thing pretending to have the skill required to help him heal and get him back to the game he loves. Easton is the epitome of a major league star, he's cocksure, sexy as hell, talented and has a considerable pedigree. After a shock accident on the field Easton has seen more time on the bench than ever before in his illustrious career. When he meets Scout Dalton he's ready to dismiss her like some many others before her, until she shows him that she's not to be messed with. The Player is arguably one of my favourite titles by Bromberg, filled to the brim with intense chemistry, stormy angst and a story that has you utterly invested from only moments in, there was everything I look for in my next favourite book. While I'm a sucker for anything written by this author, The Player had that something special that's hard to replicate, it has that unquantifiable thing that makes reading so enjoyable, that enviable connection between story and reader that makes it impossible to put down. I wanted more, no... I needed more and because of that I finished in one sitting, bleary eyed, heart racing, utterly spent. Some books leave you feeling sated, some leave you grateful for the journey, Bromberg's ability to weave a tale so eloquently left me desperately wanting more.

"The worst part about telling yourself lies is you know the real truth."

When Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy first released their co-written work HIM I was instantly enamoured, it quickly rose to one of my favourite books of the year and with the subsequent release of US, they became one of my all time favourite duets. I was already a fan of Kennedy but with HIM's release I found myself downloading Bowen's back catalogue and devouring them at will. In US we were introduced to Blake Riley, the loveable larrikin with a huge heart and incidentally a huge *ahem*. Blake's loud and gregarious nature there was something inherently good about him. Something warm and nurturing, something that incited loyalty, there was a sense that there may be more to the big lug than met the eye.

“She’s staring at me like she wants to rip off my clothes. Or just rip something. I’m not quite sure which.”  

Jess Canning is loved by her family, there's no doubt of that, and yet her constant jumping from one career to the next has left her feeling on the outs, crushed by the wave of guilt for once again not following through on a career plan her parents have helped fund leaves her questioning her next steps. As she finishes the final touches on her first and last party planning venture for none other than her brothers wedding she should be prepared for any eventuality, including steering clear of the best man Blake Riley. Riley is every mistake she's ever made, he's bad decisions and reckless abandon rolled into a delicious package.

“That dude is a lot like a big, drooly dog. Doesn’t matter if he just met you, he wants to lick your face and hump your leg”

Blake Riley can't deny his attraction to Jess Canning, nor does he want to, she doesn't want a serious relationship, that's fine, neither does he, Jess doesn't want to revisit their little sex-capade, that's fine, he'll convince her otherwise. For every argument Jess puts forward, Blake can find a reason to refute her decision, Blake is after all a man with a plan and he'll stop at nothing to convince Jess to give him a shot even if it's only for a mutually beneficial somethin' somethin'.

“We’re friends?”
“Are we?”
I smirk at her. “Would you rather I said ‘former lovers? Or maybe soon-to-be-lovers-again?”
She smirks back. “In your dreams.”
“F*ck, yes. Absolutely in my dreams. The wet kind.” I reach over and cover her knee with my palm. “How about we make those dreams a reality”  

Filled with moments of absolutely hilarity, Good Boy felt much lighter than the Duet that spurned it's release, Bowen and Kennedy cement their ability to create the type of banter that effortlessly draws you in, whether it be the sizzling chemistry between Blake and Jess, or the bro-code worthy banter between Blake and his team mates, there was seldom a moment that was not engaging. I found myself desperate for more of this story and yet desolate at the idea of finishing it and being left bereft without their presence. Everything about the story had me invested, every scintillating sexy moment of back and forth between Blake and Jess, every moment of growing doubt over what they are to each other, every sweet moment of side glances and knowing smiles, every moment of growing lust and animal attraction only cemented Good Boy as a new favourite. With a whole new series to read and love on the way, Bowen and Kennedy have easily become one of my top writing duo's.

“He just laughs, that deep, boisterous laugh that seems to come from the centre of his soul, because Blake doesn’t do anything half-assed. He laughs the way he lives his life—loud and fierce and without inhibition. He f*cks that way, too.”

Before I tell you all about #1 Crush I feel the need to tell you a little known story, in year seven (the first year of high school for the non-Aussie's) I discovered David Duchovny, today's generation would know him as Hank from Californication, but back then DD or my future husband as I affectionately referred to him was Fox Mulder, he was half of the lead cast of The X Files and my God was he swoony... he was determined and single minded, he was searching for the truth and he was sexy AF! I adored him, his posters adorned my walls, his pictures covered my school diary and folder, I played the MATCH game with our names more times than I could count, hell myself and two of my friends probably could of started writing erotica with the crazy stories we came up with featuring our mutual love. Even now through his sexual addiction scandal and everything in between he still floats my boat if you know what I mean... you see we've all been there at one point. Or at least after showing you my crazy, I hope we've all been there, crushed on a singer or actor or someone we'd never have the slightest chance with, I mean sure David might have been my first, but through five live concerts for The Script I still try to convince everyone around me that there's a HUGE chance the lead singer Danny will see me in the crowd and fall madly in love with me, I mean sure it hasn't happened yet, but considering last time I touched his arm so we're getting closer, I have to hope for lucky number six.

In true Gephart style what ensues is a wacky, wild ride as one woman gets everything she ever dreamt of. The author referred to #1 Crush as ridiculous and crazy, and I'll be honest, it is, it's so ridiculous that I found myself laughing my arse off, it's so crazy that it could almost actually happen, and it was so damn sexy that I found myself fanning my face as reality and one girls wild imagination collided in the best possible way. Instead of rolling my eyes or shaking my head, I was giddy for more, because while David and I were never meant to be, maybe there's a chance that the Tia's of this world might just have a chance with the Eric's and after all isn't that why we read romance in the first place?

T. Gephart showed a new breadth to her talent with this release, while her previous books have had a comedic vibe, #1 Crush cemented her ability to write pure comedy, with a delicious sexy twist. Funny, engaging and impossible to put down this book left me giddy and overjoyed in a way very few have.

When the loving and protective Ryder Rodgers burst onto the scene in Sweet Cheeks there was something intriguing about him, he was at once the typical big brother protective to the enth degree and jovial and fun loving in the way only a big brother can be, but in Bromberg's new novella we see the sexy side of Mr Rodgers, a man who is confident and suave and downright dirty when he wants to be. He's grown out of his pretty boy high school stage into a mover and shaker in the world of capital works and consultancy.

Harper Denton was once a gangly, shy young girl, suffering from nervousness and the typical afflictions of any high school student until she went head to head with Ryder Rodgers, when under his cool gaze she found herself and was able to exhibit a cool, calm collectiveness that would benefit her in her future career. While I recommend reading Sweet Cheeks, Sweet Rivalry could absolutely be read as a stand alone, especially when your in the mood for something short and sweet.

My forays into Nicole Willliams writing began way back with her hit Crash, as the title suggests Lucy and Ryder crashed into my life and I was immediately swept away with their story, so much so that I still remember so much of their trials and joys all these years later. When news of Hate Story was released I was instantly intrigued, a proposal, two strangers, and Williams' writing ability and how could I not be?

"I knew I wasn't the traditional Venus men wanted to take a piss on to mark their territory. I wasn't a head-turner, the body a guy pictured as he jacked off. I wasn't the first girl asked to dance... or the second or third."

Nina needs money fast, with mounting debt and her limited options to earn cold hard cash she accepts an indecent proposal from Max Sturm, unlike Demi Moore in the feature film by the same name there is no sex in her contract. Get married, present a picture perfect image of marital bliss and stay married for three years... in the grand scheme of things the $1million pay off is more than worth the inconvenience. For Nina it was as close to perfect as she could get until she met the man who would become her husband.

“I kind of hate you, you know that?”
His eyes challenged that. “I’m asking you to marry me, not like me. Hate me all you want.”

Max Sturm is a formidable business man, born in Germany but raised in the States, Max is desperate to stay in his adopted country. A marriage of convenience with a financial reward seems like the only plausible option. The rules are simple, the terms concrete, he's three short years away from being granted everything he desires.

The banter, the sexual tension, the chemistry between the these two left me desperately turning pages, from their initial meeting to them moving in together and beyond that Hate Story was the kind of book you don't want to put down, light, funny and easy to read. Max's conviction to have Nina hate him was absolute, desperate to keep their relationship strictly professional, the more they recognised something in other that ensured this marriage of convenience would blossom into something bigger, something bolder, the more Max fought to be the kind of man who was easy to hate. While this trope certainly isn't new, Williams managed to make it feel fun and fresh. Being on holidays and soaking up the Australian summer sun by the beach, Hate Story was the kind of book I needed, it was effortless in the best kind of way, I found myself giggling on the sand, smiling on a deckchair, and swooning on the balcony with a wine in my hand. Williams reminded me why I loved her writing all those years ago, humour, heat, and most importantly a genuine balance of heart, Hate Story left me sated and yet wanting more, just as a good book should.
