Ladies Man (Manwhore #3) by Katy Evans - Review

Blurb:

Tahoe Roth.
Irreverent, cocky, playful and naughty.
He’s not the guy you date.
He’s the one night stand.
The one your mother warned you about.
The one your body craves.

You’d think the man who called me succulent would want to strip me down and spread me out on his bed—like he’s done with countless others.

But he passed on my offer….

Just like I’d once passed on his.

He’s wary, like I am.

He’s broken, like I am.

And everyone knows two broken parts can’t ever make a whole.

Tahoe and I are strictly friends.

So I distract myself with other men.

He doesn’t think my new man is good enough. This blond blue-eyed beast doesn’t think any man is—himself included.

But the more time we spend together, the more confused I feel.
I'm trying to open myself to love.

Yet I'm quickly realizing that the only man I want is Tahoe Roth.
The one man who will surely break my heart.

A sexy new Manwhore series standalone contemporary romance from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.

Reviewed: April 2016.

Tahoe Roth is the epitome of the term ladies man, he's well known, lusted after, and isn't at all discreet about his night time dalliances with the fairer sex, he's part of the Manhattan elite, he's wealthy and powerful, with friends like Malcolm Saint he's sure to have quite a reputation. Men want to be him, women want him, watching his best friend find love only seemed to make him more determine to continue leading his swinging single life, answering to no one but himself, Roth has quite the enviable existence.

Regina was determined to maintain her single existence, after heartbreak and betrayal years before, she swore off love and romance, determined to protect her heart against men who would only disappoint and hurt her, when her best friend Rachel falls hopelessly in love with one of the city's most eligible bachelor's Saint, she finds herself fighting to keep telling herself that single is what she truly wants to be. Saints best friend Tahoe was at first the epitome of everything she hated about men, he was cocky and arrogant, had women falling at his feet, and he used them and tossed them away just as quickly, but the more she got to know the cocky business man, the more she began to see him as her friend, the friend that she spent her time alternating between wanting to kiss him or punch him in the face.

On the surface, everything about Tahoe and Regina's friendship seems all wrong, and yet quickly they come to mean more to each other than anyone else, they become each others sounding board, lucky charm, best friend, their chemistry is explosive, their attraction undeniable, and yet they skirt the truth of what they are and how they feel, seeming to always take one step forward and two steps back, coming dangerously close to unravelling the lies they tell themselves and each other. Regina has always felt broken, betrayed, forgotten, left behind, first by her parents and then by her ex boyfriend Paul, she's a walking case study on abandonment issues, terrified of being hurt again, and yet simultaneously scared to miss out on life by pushing people away. It's assumed that she is the one battling past demons, but the more we delve into their friendship, the more we see that Tahoe is just as adept at keeping secrets himself. Are his playboy ways be design or is there more to the man the he leads people to believe...

Ladies Man isn't a story of instalove, their chemistry is potent, it's undeniable, there's a rawness to their budding friendship, an honesty that neither has truly experienced, despite her overwhelming attraction to the man, Gina slowly shows more of herself than she even realises, Tahoe despite his reputation dispels the playboy myth so many times when it comes to her, neither can deny that what they have is more than friendship, and yet there is still a slow build that is so exquisite to watch unfold, admitting they want each other has never been a problem, spending time together definitely not a chore, recognising that together they have something worth fighting for is part of the beauty of the journey. Ladies Man was captivating, exploring the enigma that is Tahoe Roth had me glued to the pages, watching Gina's journey from a woman who resigned herself to never putting herself out there again, to a woman who almost welcomed the pain knowing she was chasing after something more for herself that hiding behind past heartbreak is what had me unable to look away.

One With You (Crossfire #5) by Sylvia Day - Review

Blurb:

Gideon Cross. Falling in love with him was the easiest thing I've ever done. It happened instantly. Completely. Irrevocably.

Marrying him was a dream come true. Staying married to him is the fight of my life. Love transforms. Ours is both a refuge from the storm and the most violent of tempests. Two damaged souls entwined as one.

We have bared our deepest, ugliest secrets to one another. Gideon is the mirror that reflects all my flaws ... and all the beauty I couldn't see. He has given me everything. Now, I must prove I can be the rock, the shelter for him that he is for me. Together, we could stand against those who work so viciously to come between us.

But our greatest battle may lie within the very vows that give us strength. Committing to love was only the beginning. Fighting for it will either set us free ... or break us apart.

Heartbreakingly and seductively poignant, One with You is the breathlessly awaited finale to the Crossfire® saga, the searing love story that has captivated millions of readers worldwide.

Kristine's Review:
Reviewed: April 2016.

I remember the first time I had heard of Bared to You and Sylvia Day, I was standing in Dymmocks Bookstore, I was picking up the final book in the FSOG trilogy and the helpful sales assistant placed a copy of BTY in my hands, she strongly urged me to read it, it was a new release and was garnering great feedback from staff and customers alike, I added a copy to my sale and happily walked out the door. I had just rediscovered reading, the world of e-books and kindles was a brave new world, I was hooked, suddenly I didn't have to carry around paperbacks in my already heavy handbag, I could read on my phone...regardless of where I was, it was May 2012 and I was hooked. When I began BTY I was immediately captivated by Eva, she was sassy and charming and forthright, she was sexy and owned it, even in those first moments she had a clear idea of who she wanted to be, even if she wasn't quite there yet, and Gideon, boy Gideon, with his ink black hair, three piece suits (yes you're right Mr Cross...is there any other kind) and beguiling charisma I was intrigued, because I wanted, no I needed to know more. Despite owning the paperback, I downloaded the e-book version so I continue reading even when I had pressing matters like work and a husband and a business to attend to, now as I sit here writing this review, I can honestly say not only had my love for this pair grown in leaps and bounds, but so has my collection of both Australian and International covers of this series, but also my e-library, spanning across different platforms.

"I hadn't even known Eva was out there, had been afraid to even dream of finding the one person in the world who would accept and love every facet of me."

There are authors I will automatically drop everything for, there are series I will do the same, as I eagerly awaited the final instalment hitting my kindle, and my bookshelf, I found myself rereading my favourite lines, my favourite passages, reconnecting with Eva and Gideon, watching their growth both independently and together, seeing their relationship blossom despite the almost constant wave of trials they faced, on the surface the Crossfire series is about a billionaire business man and a young woman who is certainly not new to wealth and power, but when you pull back the layers there's something inherently beautiful here, there's two people who have lived through horrific, traumatic experiences, they've found ways to continue on, to continue living a life that while may have seemed fanciful on the outside somewhat of a bland existence in reality. While Ms Day's writing may be deliciously sexy, gripping and at time tumultuous, ultimately this is a love story, a grand, sweeping tale, of two people who have fought in every sense of the word, for their mental health and stability, for their pasts that can't be unwritten, for themselves but ultimately for each other, for a reader that thrives on living the journey not just relishing the destination, Crossfire has become a favourite that I will no doubt revisit time and time again.

"You fascinate the f*ck out of me, you know that? You're never boring. A lifetime alone with you wouldn't be long enough to figure you out."
What I found most thrilling in One With You was the noticeable changes in both Eva and Gideon, for many years both used sex as a way to claim back something that was lost, the lack of control they had in their earlier lives, the intense, almost soul deep connection was never in any doubt, their bond not in question, but where sex had become a salve previously we saw two people who found intimacy in their connection, where natural instincts begged them to shut down and back away, it was that pull, the magnetism, the siren call they seemed to elicit only for each other that led them back, time after time, heartache after heartbreak, and for each seemingly insurmountable obstacle that they overcame together, the stronger they became both independently and together.

"She hugged me so tightly I could hardly breath. But I didn't need air. I had her."

There were so many moments that I had to take a breath, set my book down and just smile, so may times across a series spanning five books that I sighed as my heart fluttered, knowing what was coming next only had the ability to tear them both down, apart, if they let it, what I loved most though was that this series, these characters have become friends, for almost four years I have cheered with Gideon and Eva's triumphs, have commiserated with their heartaches,  have swooned with every one of their romantic entanglements, saying goodbye to them is bittersweet, after so much time I almost don't want to let them go, the Crossfire series truly epitomises the old adage that life isn't about the destination but rather the journey. Ms Day introduced to the world two characters that were captivating individually, they were warriors who had known darkness, been shrouded in it for far too long, letting it break them down, and tear them apart, in bringing them together she forced them to step into the light, finding acceptance and peace, but most importantly love, their journey may have come to an end, but their legacy will no doubt live on in readers hearts.

Love, Chloe by Alessandra Torre - ARC Review

Blurb:

From NYT Bestseller Alessandra Torre...

Chloe Madison. That’s me. A former NYU princess who just fell from grace, right off my pampered Manhattan throne and onto the unforgiving steps of Nicole Brantley, socialite and queen bitch. Now, I walk her dog and mix her smoothies. Try to navigate my own problems while fixing all of hers.

I want what every New York girl wants. A career, an apartment, and true love, preferably in a smoking hot package.

Kristine's Review:
Reviewed: March 2016.

Chloe Madison had the kind of life most people envied, growing up with wealth beyond most people's expectations, a boyfriend most women fawned over Vic Worth, who's wealth exceeded her own families, two best friends Cammie and Benta, who not only understood the perks of growing up entitled but lived it everyday not to mention being able to call New York City home. Finding out the man of your dreams couldn't keep it in his pants, cheating on you with none other than the hired help was one thing, walking in to see it for yourself quite entirely another, but the absolute icing on the cake, being evicted from your home after finding out your parents had been diddling the finances and unabashedly being knee deep in insider trading. In an instant Chloe's world crumbled, between sleeping on a friends couch, and figuring out how exactly to move on from here, Chloe goes from a life of wealth and excess to a role she never dreamt she'd have to play, one of the hired help.

Becoming a personal assistant for Nicole Brantley wasn't all sunshine and roses, wading her way through the murky waters that is Nicole's life, fending off advances from the man that once upon a time she envisioned to be her knight in shining armour Vic, rattling the feathers of Hollywood's playboy Joey Plazen on set, and navigating exactly what is building between her and her sexy super Carter is all in a days work for Chloe V.2.0

Originally released in serial form as The Cosmo episodes, Ms Torre decided to breath new life into Chloe's story, we immediately meet the Chloe who is down on her luck and trying desperately to build a life for herself, outside of obligation to her parents, without her ex's love or financial support, as she juggles memories from her old life, with expectations of how her life should of panned out after graduating college, to the place she finds herself now, we see a myriad of obstacles and emotions thrown her way. From the girl who could fix any problem with the swipe of her trusty AMEX to one who had to penny pinch to secure enough of a deposit to look for a place to call her own, while Chloe never truly hit so rock bottom that she was destitute, and completely alone, for an upbringing such as hers it certainly felt like she had.

Torre paints a veritable tapestry of rich characters that dominate this story, aside from Chloe, her friends Cammie and Benta may have been the epitome of the rich girl stereotype, ones that could jet away at the drop of a hat for a tropical holiday, that's where the similarities ended, they were fiercely protective of their friend, giving both moral and emotional support when needed, while allowing Chloe to figure out what she needed to do and where she needed to go. Joey, the Hollywood star was without cocky and self involved but he also saw something more to Chloe than just a rich girl that fell from grace, Vic, despite his asshole tendencies and inability to sate his wandering eye, had his heart mostly in the right place and Carter...swoon...Carter was the kind of guy you wanted to introduce to your mother, and drag to your bedroom and tie to your bed, he was strong and masculine in a way that left you feeling protected and taken care of, and yet self assured and confident enough that when he spoke you paid attention, everything deliberate, every word considered.

"When I was little, my mom told you should find a man who loved you more than you loved him. That way, she explained, you would never get hurt. In theory, it made sense. But now, I believed the beauty of love was in the loving."

Love, Chloe was a sexy, fun filled romp into the inner sanctum of rich and famous, but more than that, Torre weaved a beautiful message through out, reminding us that life is about far more than material possessions and pre-conceived expectations. Chloe was a dichotomy of characteristics that usually fall either end of a spectrum, strong willed and weak, rich and poor, confident and unsure, ready to take life by the horns and yet scared to take the first step, her belief that there was something broken inside if her didn't deter her from taking steps to cement a future of independence for herself, there were moments where she questioned her decisions, her moral compass, her worth but ultimately made decisions on how best to move herself forward with the least amount of collateral damage. Everything about Torre's latest work was a joy to read, and I found myself effortlessly lost in her words, living vicariously through Chloe's eyes, reminding me that when life hands you lemons, the best course of action is to call your friends to bring the vodka and have a party.

Kristine's Review:
Reviewed: January 2016.

"Remember, son, marriage isn't about how madly in love you are through the good times, but how committed you are to each other in the bad times."

I'm sitting here staring at my computer screen, trying desperately to put what I'm feeling down on paper so to speak, and I've got to be honest...I'm struggling, because I don't know how to do ACED justice, I don't know how to eloquently say what I need to tell you, which is that this book captured my heart, it crushed it, it tore it apart, and it taped it back together. Years ago when I picked up Driven I fell in love with Colton Donovan and Rylee Thomas, because yes Colton was the epitome of alpha males we love, but more than that he had demons, demons that have dominated his life, dominated so much of it, before Rylee he used racing and women to numb himself, he tried to f*ck everything out of his system but that's the thing about your past it never truly goes away, and no one understood that better than Rylee because she had a past that haunted her, they both understood what it was like to want to desperately forget and together found a connection they never expected.

"The only thing you can do is to turn your wounds into wisdom."

Aced begins years later, Rylee and Colton have freed the ghosts of their collective pasts, they've grown together, they've leant on each other, they've built a foundation so solid that nothing could ever break them, they've lived through the worst life has to throw at them and come out stronger, more resilient, but that's the thing about life, it continues to throw curveballs at you, continues to test your limits, push you to colour outside the lines, forces you to take one step forward and two steps back, to keep getting up.

"I love that you raced me even when I didn't have any wheels on the f*cking track."

Bromberg gives fans readers back their beloved Rylee and Colton, and every ounce of love I had for them came rushing back, I felt it in spades, I felt that soul deep connection between two people who were made for each other, who chose to be with each other, two bestfriends in every sense of the word, a bond forged in fire, but now years on from that first meeting in a broom closet, they have waves rolling in, ready to knock them off their proverbial boards, the more the scamper to right themselves, the faster and harder the waves crash into them.

"No one has control of life, Rylee. That's the beauty and fear in living it."

There's a expectancy of fantasy to contemporary romance, we don't want to read about average hero's who work the 9til5 and come home to eat dinner, watch an hour of sports and fall asleep, we want a hero we can dream about, fantasise about, revel in, and while Colton Donovan is certainty not your average Joe, there's a sense of normalcy here, an overriding sense of I've experienced that, I've been there, I know your pain because I've felt it too, for an author to be able to take the reader on a journey where she can elicit an emotional response is telling of their prowess, but to take a story that's fantastical in so many ways, and have readers connect with it because they've been through it, to take something away from it, to use it to help heal a part of themselves that they worried would always be broken, is a testament to her exceptional talent.

"You're only alive if you bruise."

I feel as though I'm being deliberately evasive, and I am because you don't want me to ruin this for you, BELIEVE ME on this, you want to go in like I did, pulling on my imaginary protective armour, because I knew, I KNEW with absolute certainty that I was about to take a journey, one that I may not of been ready for, and I devoured Aced, as I turned the last page, I put my kindle down and just breathed, as my emotions ebbed and flowed, and I looked back on every moment, every smile, every shared look, every soft touch, from the beginning, through five books, and thousands of words, then I picked it back up and started Aced all over again.

Bromberg shows such growth in her writing, which astounds me as I've always been captivated by her ability to draw you in, to make you truly live and breathe her words. This story is captivating from the very first line until the last page, her prose exquisite, her ability to cradle your heart in her hands, while she begs you to trust her to take Colton and Rylee where their story needs to go. Heart stopping, mesmerizing, the old adage that it's not about the destination, but the journey is true here, Bromberg valiantly and sensitively takes the reader on a journey that will leave them both sated and desperate for more.

Kristine's Review:
Reviewed: January 2016.

Yesterday I asked my blog reader group out of two books what I should read next, the resounding answer was HERO, one member went so far as to say if this wasn't a GOLD Lipstick review then I didn't deserve my lipstick rating... I'm not even a little miffed to say she was 100% correct, this book ...gahhh everything about Hero captivated me immediately, Alexa was a character I loved at first sight, she was strong and feisty and pure of heart and good and so incredibly intriguing, during another bout of insomnia and ill health, I picked it up hoping that I would fall asleep at some point, instead I devoured Samantha Young's words, I couldn't of put this book down if I tried, with Young's trademark wit, her sexy styling and characters that make you feel, I was hooked, line and sinker.

It's an interesting premise here, Alexa uncovered her father's deception a few years ago, and boy was it a doozy, it shattered the precarious happiness of her family and alienated her from her once watertight bond with her mother, it obliterated everything she once believed and changed her life, after the death of her estranged mother a few months ago, her world crumbled, but her father's deception didn't only effect Alexa and her mother, they were only two of the people who were collateral damage, enter Caine Carraway. Alexa is determined to prove she's nothing like her father, but Caine has no interest in her, he works tirelessly to break her, but she refuses to crumble.

“You cannot kill your boss on the first day, you cannot kill your boss on the first day, you cannot kill your boss period”

When circumstances lead to Alexa being under Caine's employ, she believes she finally has an in to prove that the sins of the father don't have to repeat themselves, but Caine is adamant that she is nothing more than his PA, his interactions with her are curt, he throws tasks at her that would frazzle even the most professional of people, Alexa has never been so effected by a man before, and she's determined to prove that all she wants is for Caine to find happiness, what she doesn't know is she is not the only one impacted by their interaction, their bond quickly deepens and before long they are involved in a hot and sexually explosive affair, Caine is determined to keep things purely sexual and Alexa hopes that there is more for them then just the physical connection.

“This isn’t just sex, Caine. This is an affair.” I held my hand up to stop his coming protest. “I’m not suggesting permanency. I’m suggesting that you admit that there’s a difference in what we’re doing here. We aren’t two people who just have sex now and then. There are feelings here whether we want to admit it or not. I’m not asking for forever, I’m asking you to stop pushing me away. I’m asking you to be real with me for however long this lasts.”

I expected a sexy, witty romance, I purposely went into Hero blind, I had purchased it back in February 2015, and within moments of turning the first page, I was kicking myself for taking so long to read it, because Hero is incredibly sexy, with the trademark wit I've come to expect from Ms Young, but this story was so much more than that, with secrets and lies at every turn, Hero had all the markings of suspenseful thrill ride, I knew something *BIG* was coming, I kept waiting for find out what *IT* was and boy each and every time another part of the puzzle came to light, I became more desperate, I wanted, no I needed to know why Caine truly believed he wasn't a good fit for Alexa, but what truly had me enraptured was Alexa's tenacity, her strength in the face of adversity, her belief in Caine and all of those around her, she made me hopeful, even when her faith wavered, even when my heart shattered for her, even when I wanted to wrap her in my arms, wipe her tears and reassure her, I had faith and hope carving out space in my battered heart, because my silly, swoony, romantic thirst for happily ever afters is what draws me to reading, to getting lost in a book, to forgetting the time, to handing my heart over to an author every time I turn the first page, begging them to handle it with care.

“Don’t you get it?” he said, his voice gruff with emotion. “I’ve never met anyone like you before. There’s no one like you. I keep waiting to not feel like this, because there are times I can’t bear it. To care this much. To worry about you day in and day out, even before the attack. I love you so fucking much. I sometimes . . . I feel consumed by it.”

Hero was a witty, sexy thrill ride, filled with poignant moments of heartbreaking clarity, of twists and turns, of one woman's journey to find a place to belong and to prove to a man who once lost everything that we are more than just one part of ourselves, that the sins of the father aren't destined to repeat themselves, but more than anything that life is about flailing and falling, and getting back up despite the darkness that often plagues us, Hero is about not letting the past hold you captive, it's about forgiveness and redemption, my only regret is not starting this book sooner.

Crave by BJ Harvey - ARC Review

Blurb:

I have a craving.

A dark urge I’ve failed to resist despite years of trying to do that very thing.

I’ve forced myself to hide behind a mask, a perfect orchestration to hide my true self.

After I met her, my wants and needs, my inner most desires changed.

She encouraged me to embrace who I truly am, and she was willing to do anything and everything I wanted, giving herself to satisfy my most carnal appetite.

Then everything in my carefully managed world came crashing down around me. A moment in time, a loss of control, and the very thing I cherish was nearly taken from me.

My fate now lies in her hands.

The very life I’ve built for myself…everything I’ve ever done now waits in purgatory, all caused by a lack of focus at a time when my most concentrated attention was needed.

The very thing I crave may now be the end of me.

To be honest I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting when I picked up Crave, BJ Harvey had been speaking about this book for a long time, the teasers hinted at something dark and almost sexily depraved, there was a sense of intrigue, of suspense, of something very different from her previous work. Crave is all that and more.

From the opening lines, Harvey had me invested, her prose exquisite, I was enraptured almost instantly, Crave had a slow start, the initial chapters really focusing on setting the scene and creating a sense of intrigue, Callum Alexander is a man of mystery, an enigma, he hints towards this deep, dark secret he is struggling to contain, something so sinister that it could spell his downfall if he were to act on it, and while I was intrigued by the secret what I truly wanted, was to know more about the man behind the legend, Callum is a renowned architect, he along with his best friend and business partner Grant Richardson have been awarded accolades cementing their place at the top of their field, they've built an empire with Alexander Richardson that is set to shoot them both from local celebrity to infinite stardom.

Callum is content to continue his life the way he is currently living it, as a island adrift in a sea of masks and facades, the image Callum portrays to the world around him is one of a successful business man, nothing more and nothing less, he makes it a point to keep his romantic life to a minimum, preferring to keep his sex life discreet, physical relationships purely provide a means to an end, there is nothing passionate there, that creative and passionate side of his brain filters directly into his work, he has little time to be distracted by anything else, it's too risky to chance exposing the side if him he's worked so hard to maintain control of. When he meets Lucia Harding, his world is titled off it's axis, for the first time ever, he's distracted.

Lucia Harding is the kind of woman who makes her presence known instantly, not through showy revealing clothes or by being loud and obnoxious, she radiates an aura that's hard to ignore and impossible not to notice. She's head strong, confident, and self assured, Lucia is a breath of fresh air from all of the money hungry, social climbing, barbie dolls that Callum is used to, there's a instant connection between the two, an awakening of sorts, the attraction isn't one sided, and Lucia definitely seems like she can give as good as she gets.

Crave definitely had a sense of instalust, but there was a slow burn to their romance, but as their blossoming relationship fought to take centre stage, there was someone or something waiting in the wings to derail everything Callum had fought so hard for both personally and professionally. Harvey cultivates this sense of foreboding, almost a sense of dread as things begin to happen, there's a creep factor that permeates every scene, what's that old saying...what goes up must come down...that's what I felt, for every slice of happiness that Lucia and Callum carved out for themselves, for every new dream and wish they threw into the air, I was waiting for them all to come crashing down ...waiting for the perfectly created façade Callum had crafted to begin to crack. Once I dove in, wading into the murky waters of a man struggling to be perfect example of poise and control, I couldn't put it down, I needed to know what came next. Harvey certainly showed her range here, Crave very much a deviation from her most recent Bliss series, this is undoubtedly sexy, it's sizzling hot, and the connection between Lucia and Callum is intense, their chemistry undeniable, the easy banter between Callum and Grant lifted the often dark and brooding vibe that I initially expected. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed Harvey's take on sizzling suspense, and now the only question I'm left asking is...when does Grant Richardson get to tell his story?

Excerpt:

“What was that thought?” she asks curiously.

I lift my eyes from her hand resting on the black leather seat between us to her face to see a sly smile has appeared on her lips. “What thought?”

“The one that just had dirty written all over it.” Her smile grows wide, her eyes glittering with heat and a touch of amusement at the position she’s cornered me into.

“It’s a thought that would be more suited to the end of the date, if we are following your predetermined description of a how a first date should be, that is.”

Heat overtakes amusement as the air inside the car crackles with the right type of tension, the exact type of mood I have been hoping for and dreading. Our eyes remained locked, like neither one of us is able or willing to look away from the other.

Knowing I’d need to acquiesce, I look back down to where her hand rests beside her leg and bite the bullet, reaching over and lacing my fingers with hers.

“See?” she says as I catch her smile out of the corner of my eye. “Wasn’t that hard, was it?”

“It’s like that, is it?” I say, my voice filled with humor. She leans over, turning her body toward mine and rests her mouth against my jaw, just below my ear.

“If you want something from me, Callum, you just need to ask for it or take it. I highly doubt any of the thoughts running through that very handsome, highly intelligent head of yours could put me off.” Her breath warms my skin, sending the nerve endings into overdrive. “You’re welcome to try though . . .”

Before I can attempt to put my public mask in place, I tilt my head until we are cheek to cheek. Presented with an opportunity, I follow my instincts and graze my teeth slowly against her ear lobe. “I was thinking how your hand would feel touching me again . . .”

Her breath stutters momentarily, before quickening. She pulls back, leaning her shoulder into the seat but not returning to her side. “I’m sure we can arrange to hold hands again, Callum. It’s all part of getting to know each other.”

I mimic her pose, our bodies still close but not touching, as I let out an uncharacteristic chuckle. “You’re trouble with a capital T.”

“And I’m thinking, Mr. Alexander, there’s something about my brand of trouble that you’re drawn to.”

Kristine's Review:
Reviewed: October 2015.

Naughty King was a rollicking sexy adventure into the world of the Manhattan elite, from the outward glance Alexander King has it all, and to an extent he does, money for days, women throwing themselves at his feet, and Margo Buchanan once lived a life of wealth and luxury until her father took a tumble from the heights of excess they were accustomed.

When were leave off from Naughty King Margo and King wake up not so happily married, after a bender of a night out, the ever faithful Yamada ready to congratulate them on their nuptials. Margo and King may have animal magnetism, an intense chemistry that neither can fight, but outside of the bedroom they can't seem to get along, Margo needs Alexander's help to end their financial ruin, and Alexander needs to keep Margo contained so he can take over what's left of her father's crumbling empire.

Settle in for laughs as Valentine takes you back into the world of King and Margo, their chemistry seeping through the pages, awaking even the most discerning of reader's senses, there's a tangible quality to their unquenchable physical need for one another, but what truly left its mark on me was watching these two incredibly strong alpha's slowly bend to let the other in, both still fiercely guarding their heart, and protecting themselves from the scrutiny of others, but while Yamada is firmly in King's camp, even he can see the attraction between Margo and King, and is no doubt doing what he can to push them together.

Feisty Princess is every bit as sexy and funny as Naughty King, I was desperate for more, and while Valentine quenched thirst, as soon as I finished I was ready for more, the author left me eagerly awaiting more from this brash, titillating Manhattan fairy tale.

Kristine's Review:

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect here with Ms. Manwhore, where would Katy Evans take Rachel and Saint? Would she throw in unnesscary angst just to fill the word count, or would she fill the novella with sexy times to pad it out? Where Ms. Manwhore could of been beating a dead horse so to speak, this felt fun and swoony. There was no unnecessary angst, no pointless drama, just a fun escapade into the craziness that is Saint and Rachel's life.

Rachel may have come a long way from the shy, innocent woman she was pre Saint, she's still incredibly dedicated to her craft, and the causes close to her heart but in letting down her walls and surrendering to the intense connection with Malcolm has changed her, she's more confident in her skin and seems more sure of herself than ever before, it was refreshing to see this side of Rachel, the one who still feels like a fairy princess but is sure in her love for the quintessential sinner.

There a sexiness to Evans' writing like we've come to expect but there's also a softness to her alpha males, reading the easy camaraderie between Saint and Tahoe made me desperate for more, I'm eager to see if there's more to come for Saint's best friend and what kind of trouble he could get into with Gina, I'm excited for more of these smart, sassy, feisty characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure into what happens after the question is popped, when the planning begins, and dreams for forever start, plenty of super sexiness to keep you wanting more, lots of sweetness that leaves you swoony, and all the laughs you've come to expect from this series.
